Views from 8th March

Private View has taken place - the show runs until 20th March 2010.

Thank you to Bayo at Lati Ri, kiitos/tack; Mika for help on the day and Iniva/Rivington Place; Teresa and Sheena for all support and website press etc.,

'the in-crowd' sakina, james, nancy, heidi

After the Private View Sakina, James and I attended the East10 Open House architecture debate "Is creativity in architecture dead?" at the Allen and Overy LLP lecture hall, London E1. Debate panel: Alison Brooks, Marcus Fairs, Hugh Pearman and

Joe Kerr.

It was an interesting, albeit manifesto filled event. We found it relevant, educational and necessary. As always, Joe Kerr spoke to the point (just as I remember from my student days in his lectures!). Thanks for coming along, I will invite you again.

Shoreditch Showcase LAUNCH Private View

Final Critique - project ends

......there will be a new project blog coming soon..

p e r f o r m i n g/ t h e/ s p a c e

Shoreditch Showcase comes to a close. Final Critique took place with a lot of enthusiasm, after some delay due to the unexpected snowfall. And added a bit of time to the process, helpful, I am sure.

Here are some images from the presentations. I am still waiting for the poster files from some students. Please can you check that you have given me the files I need for the showcase at Iniva.

The Iniva showcase will now take place beginning of March, to fit in with the exhibition schedule at the gallery. I will get more detailed info and invitations out in due course. Please help me get this right – I cannot organise the show reel without the work on files etc.

Final Critique Shoreditch Showcase

Final critique took place on Monday 18th January 2010 - delayed by the snow..

Lots of enthusiasm, evidence of progress and general development towards the final proposal was seen, discussed and presented. Process was particularly strong overall.

Images of work and other relative information will soon be uploaded here.

In the meantime, I think everyone deserves a slice of cake...

Next week Mon 25th-Fri 29th is study- and reading week - please check Studynet for further details by end of this week. You will be working on a set task outside of university. All will be on Studynet later this week.

Remember 1st February, Iniva Showcase launch of the Shoredicth Showcase project, looped images... more on this as I have it... (files to me please!!! Many thanks).

Preparing for Thursday's critique

Final preparations have started for pre-Christmas critique, Thursday 17th December.

Can all check the requirements and agenda.

This week will focus on detailing and drawing up the hub and finalising the showcase/event (brief) - this is already in place - but the days up to Thursday will allow you to check, amend and clarify.

Instructions and guidelines on studynet. Make sure you know what you need to do.

Good luck everyone. h

ps------Remember we are showing the work in January at Iniva - I will start the editing for the DVD this week, this will be an ongoing process and I ask everyone to respond to any image/drawing requests promptly, as and when. Many thanks.

progress-timeline-narrative

Preparing for the critique next week, slides were seen of work in progress - all to act now on the feedback as given and discussed. Please remember to start draft layouts for the posters and digital presentations (power points etc), models (you need to be working towards the final model once drawings are in place - hence the importance of this)..

‘Street Hut’

'..This concept is a combination of bridges, huts and benches working together as a little labyrinth. I want users to explore the two floors and also relax when they have found a comfortable spot. What I wanted to create with “Street Hut” was a flowing pathway that takes you as far away from the entrance as possible whilst linkages allow you to move from one block to another..'.
